Accelerator and VP of Corp Dev/Innovation at SMART Communications Earl is the President and Co-founder of the IdeaSpace Foundation, a non-profit incubator and accelerator based in Manila with $12M in funding. Ideaspace has funded 28 companies that focus on the needs of the emerging markets ranging from mobile apps to hardware based development technologies in the past 3 years. IdeaSpace is funded by First Pacific, one of the largest business groups in Southeast Asia focused on telecom, energy, infrastructure, and agriculture. He is concurrently the Vice President of Corporate Development and Innovation at Smart Communications, the Philippines largest telco with 70 million mobile subs. Prior to his move to Asia, he was a Business Incubation Manager at Cisco’s Emerging Technologies Group in Silicon Valley. He also was a Senior Systems Engineer at Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems. He worked in VC firms H&Q Asia Pacific in Manila and Investor Growth Capital in Menlo Park. Earl obtained a B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering, Summa Cum Laude, from Boston University, a Masters in Systems Engineering from Cornell University, an Executive Leadership Program from the Harvard Kennedy School and an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
